What: Abraj Kudai will be the world’s biggest hotel with 45 floors and 10,000 rooms. *First World Hotel in Malaysia (7,351 rooms) moves to #2 and MGM (6,198 rooms) in Las Vegas moves to #3
Where: 4174 Ajyad, Ar Rawabi, Mecca 24233, Saudi Arabia.
Who: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Finance is the owner of Abraj Kudai Hotel. All the construction, maintenance and funding for this hotel is managed by Saudi Arabia Ministry of Finance.
When: Expected to open sometime in 2021. The hotel has been under construction for six years with delays reportedly due to financial issues.
How Much to Stay: $5,000 a room a night
How Much to Build: $3.5 billion
Special Amenities: 4 helipads, 12 towers including the world’s largest dome atop the tallest tower, 70 restaurants, 1 lavish ballroom, convention center, spa and wellness centers, shopping malls, and a wing of five floors reserved for the Saudi royal family
Mecca welcomes twenty million visitors annually, many of whom are pilgrims attending Haj and area lodging is overbooked during this time.
