Now I’ll be the first to tell you that there is so much to see and do in London, England. In fact, it is one of my favorite cities in the world. Having lived there and traveled there many times, I felt confident I had done all the touristy stuff and then some. I’ve even sipped cocktails out of a glass made of ice while wearing a parka, boots, and gloves in the uber trendy ICE BAR. But I doubt I’ll participate in the latest craze to hit London–naked dining! Yes, the first restaurant to offer naked dining opened in June in London. Here’s what you need to know:
WHERE: The Bunyadi
WHY: bragging rights?
COST: $95pp for meal (I recommend that you don’t order coffee!)
WHAT: You will arrive dressed and are shown to locker rooms where you’ll change into robes, which you get to keep to remember your unique dining experience. You will be shown to your table where you will disrobe. The restaurant seats 42 and the tables are divided by partitions. There is lots of bamboo and wood-hewn furniture and wicker. The cutlery is edible. There is no electricity, no gas, and no lights. But there are lots of candles and food is cooked by wood fire. The wait staff is partially clothed (think loincloths and the Flintstone). No cell phones or photos are permitted.
HOW: You can sign up online for a reservation but don’t hold your breath. At the time I wrote this post, there was a wait list of 46,000. www.thebunyadi.com. This is a pop up restaurant that will close at the end of summer.
Would you ever consider nude dining at home or in public? Why or why not? Please post a comment as I would love some feedback on this!
