So you may not feel it is safe to take a vacation right now or maybe you have gone to the beach or mountains for a few days. Good for you! I have traveled a few times in 2020 and I have practiced safe protocols and so far so good. But if you haven’t been anywhere due to finances or virus anxiety, here are some travel podcasts that may give you some ideas for future travel or entertain you at the very least:
Chronicles Abroad is hosted by two women who head out to explore the world.
Travel with Rick Steves is devoted to lesser traveled tourist destinations, mostly in Europe.
Amateur Traveler offers destination specific travel tips and with 600+ episodes ranging from Lebanon to Nebraska, should be able to help you plan your next trip.
Women on the Road features solo travelers who dare to choose the nomadic lifestyle and go it alone to boot. From young to old, these women travelers are inspiring and insightful.
Terrance Talks Travel: Uber Adventures is for those searching for the ultimate or uber adventure. From American River Cruises to Outer Mongolia, I’ve got you covered.
There are lots of great travel podcasts no matter what your interests, such as Jump with Traveling Jackie (formerly The Budget-Minded Traveler), Black Women Travel Podcast, Zero to Travel, Escape, Armchair Traveler, and Extra Pack of Peanuts Travel Podcast. Listen, learn & enjoy!
FYI: Even though the official VIRTUAL VACATION DAY has passed for 2020 (March 30), you can still enjoy a virtual vacation safely, no matter where you go or what you do. It’s fun and free!
BEST TRAVEL MOVIES: Okay, so let me start by saying I do not know if these are the best travel movies, but they are entertaining and do showcase different parts of the world: Out of Africa, Under the Tuscan Sun, Romancing the Stone, Lost in Translation, Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Crocodile Dundee, and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Why aren’t Into the Wild or Eat Pray Love on this list? Don’t get me started!
BEST TRAVEL BOOKS (Same caveat as above): The Lost Continent, Dark Star Safari, Kon-Tiki, A Year in Provence, Last Train to Istanbul, Turn Right at Machu Picchu, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and any Dan Brown novel.
“If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine, it’s lethal” ~ Paul Coelho
