I don’t talk much about cruising but there are some cruises that are worth talking about. If you’re looking for a cruise that is more about sunrise yoga, guided hikes, snorkeling, kayaking, whale watching, cultural encounters, and the likes than all-you-can-eat buffets and lounge acts, then you should check out a company I recently discovered. They offer adventure cruises in some of the best adventure destinations in the world–Alaska, Central America, the Galápagos Islands, Hawaiian Islands, Mexico’s Sea of Cortés, and the Pacific Northwest. There’s even an area on the back of every ship for a kayak launch (see photo). On board, there is good food (and drink) and enough amenities to spoil those of us adventure travelers who are accustomed to much less. There are naturalists and expert guides on all trips to help you get the most of the experience. Also, there are family and theme cruises and a good price range. The best part is that most ships carry less than 100 passengers so you won’t have that mega-ship experience (3,000+ passengers). This is soft adventure at its best! www.un-cruise.com.
