I want to share the best theme parks to visit this Halloween in this blog post. There are lots of theme parks in America, but most will not be open this time of year or will not offer this kind of special, seasonal fun. But these parks go over the top with Halloween fun!
- Universal Studios Hollywood (and Orlando) presents “Halloween Horror Nights” through October 31. This is the 31st year that Universal has featured their horror fest so they know what they’re doing. There are haunted houses, scare zones, live entertainment, seasonal food and drinks, and all of their regular rides and attractions! NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 13 IS PERMITTED INSIDE.
- Knotts Scary Farm offers more than a dozen haunted attractions and all kinds of fun Halloween food. In fact, you can opt to enjoy the Knotts Scary Farm Boo-fet, which is a special dinner held beforehand. There will be all kinds of creatures on hand during the dinner and souvenirs are provided to commemorate the night. Afterwards, head out into the park to enjoy sinister shows, haunted mazes, rides and attractions, and 1,000 scary creatures lurking in every corner of the park.
- Busch Gardens Howl-o-Scream (Tampa and Williamsburg) is the best place for adults only entertainment, including Jell-o syringe shots given to those over 21) and lots of other craft cocktails, such as Witch’s Brew and Swamp Water, are served in their Blood Bar. Tour their five haunted houses, including a brand new one, Witch of the Woods. Also, explore their eight scare zones, including new ones–Voodoo, Skeleton Crew, and In the Shadows. And there is ghoulish entertainment, including Cirque X-Scream, Fiends, and Rolling Bones. Of course, there are all the normal thrilling rides and fun attractions open during Howl-o-Scream.
- Hersheypark in the Dark is open on weekends throughout October and is more family friendly than the aforementioned parks. Their new Chocolate Town is awesome! We’re talking The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio; Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor; The Sweeterie Confectionery Kitchen, Candymonium® coaster, premier shopping, the Kisses Fountain, and more. And across the park you’ll find pumpkin funnel cakes, pumpkin doughnuts, pumpkin shakes, and more! Plus, all their rides and attractions are open and offer a lights-out ride experience, including Lightning Racer, Wildcat, and Comet. Kids will love their Trick or Treat Trail!
- Legoland’s Brick or Treat (Florida, New York, and California) is another family friendly option. The biggest danger here is going into sugar shock! This is thanks to their six candy zones. There will be lots of cute Lego Monsters running around, as well as fun shows like Groovin’ Graveyard and Candy-coated Curse. Visitors will enjoy nightly fireworks and lots of refreshments throughout the park.
- Six Flags Fright Fest offers haunted attractions, rides, shows, and dining through October. Six Flags is in many locations across America.
- Halloween Haunt at King’s Island (Cincinnati, OH) is held every weekend through October. Enjoy thrilling rides, such as the Banshee and The Beast. Also, there are scare zones, mazes, creepy shows, refreshments, and lots of monsters roaming the park so be on the lookout!
- HalloWeekends (Cedar Point, OH) offers family fun during the day and adult-oriented scary fun at night. Enjoy the regular rides and attractions and 50 seasonal attractions and activities not offered at any other time of year but Halloween. And there is fun food too, such as yummy maple pepper bacon flatbread and candy corn cupcakes. Foodies will love their Tricks and Treats Food Tasting Tour and Night of the Living Fed special events.
- Great Pumpkin LumiNights at Dollywood (Pigeon Forge, TN) is a great event held through October 30. Visitors will delight in the thousands of creatively carved pumpkins on display, seasonal food, and special entertainment.
- Howl-o-ween at Great Wolf Lodge offers a costume parade, storytime, dance parties, trick or treating, and the usual rides and attractions. There are 17 Great Wolf indoor water parks across America.
