1. Winchester Mystery House.
This is number one of the five best virtual (but very real) haunted houses in America. This is a huge, amazing place that you have to see to believe! This spectacular mansion has 160 rooms spanning 26,000 square feet over six acres. There are 2,000 doors, 10,000 windows, 47 fireplaces, 40 stairways(!), 13 bathrooms, 6 kitchens, 3 elevators and 2 basements. No kidding! The Winchester Mystery House (San Jose, CA) once belonged to Sarah Winchester. She was the widow of the heir to the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. Scared of the spirits that haunted her, Sarah built stairs and doors that led nowhere, secret passageways, and a seance room. If you live in the area, Halloween Flashlight Tours are being offered. Even though the house is open to the public, many areas are off limits BUT NOT TO YOU! This month, for a small fee, you can gain access where most visitors are not allowed to go during a 360 degree immersive virtual tour.
2. Lizzie Borden House.
Unless you know nothing about history, Lizzie Borden needs no introduction. She is at the heart of one of the greatest unsolved murder mysteries in America (Fall River, Massachusetts). It is widely believed she murdered her father and stepmother in this house and it has been haunted ever since that fateful day. You can spend the night in her old room, take a tour, or participate in a ghost hunt–if you dare! Check out the tour and learn a dark history lesson…
3. Bran Castle.
Dracula. Enough said. While it’s not exactly a tour, this photo tour shows you the castle without having to travel to Bran, Romania or possibly meet up with a dark, tall, and caped stranger!
4. Stanley Hotel.
So not technically a house, it is still very much haunted! Made famous by Stephen King, whose book, The Shining, was filmed in this creepy hotel. The hotel is more than the backdrop to a classic horror film, it is also haunted. Stephen King experienced this when he stayed at the hotel and many others have, as well. In fact, it is the only hotel I know with a resident psychic! This Halloween, before you sit down to The Shining or another horror flick, take a virtual tour of the Stanley and check our Room 217.
5. Haunted Mansion Escape Room.
If you’re looking for more thrills than a virtual tour, Airbnb has something just for you:
