Trip Pick of the Week: Inexpensive Ireland

Where in the world: Dublin, Ireland (5-day)
Book by: Until sold out
Departure Dates: Nov – Feb ‘15
Cost: $799
Why I Like It: This is a great getaway. It’s just a seven-hour flight from NY to Dublin. This package includes air and hotel (four nights in centrally located Maldron Cardiff Lane Hotel or Academy Plaza Hotel) and all local taxes, hotel service charges, government and all airline taxes/fees. Optional tours and activities can be arranged at the time of booking. Many other packages are also offered, such as escorted vacations and multi-country vacation packages.
FYI: Dublin is a safe city and easy to get around. You can do as much or as little as you like, including renting a car and taking a day trip or exploring the city on your own using a self-guided city map. My advice: Skip Dublin Castle and Dublin Civic Museum. Highlights: Book of Kells at Old Library, Trinity College (reportedly haunted); Dublin Writers Museum, National Wax Museum, Kavanagh’s Pub (oldest in Dublin), Lord Edward’s Pub (haunted by ghost of Irish poet), Bewley’s Oriental Cafe (be sure to go upstairs) and Howth Village (including Howth Harbour Lighthouse and Howth Castle).
