Where in the world: 7-day Historic South Tour (Charleston, Jacksonville, Savannah, Beaufort, St. Augustine, and Jekyll Island)
Book by: Until Sold Out
Departure Dates: March – December 2017
Cost: $1,149pp
Why I Like It: This is a great introduction to several charming southern towns. The tour originates in Jacksonville and then goes to St. Augustine, which is the oldest city in America. You will enjoy a sightseeing trolley tour with a chance to visit San Sebastian Winery, Old Jail, Potter’s Wax Museum, St. Augustine Lighthouse, and Flagler College. Upon leaving here you’ll enjoy a scenic tour up the coast to Jekyll Island (Georgia’s fabled Golden Isles) and then arrive at Savannah. A sightseeing tour of the Historic District covers all the highlights, including the Waving Girl Statue, Colonial Park, and the Cotton Exchange. On the way to your last tour stop, Charleston, you’ll stop in Beaufort, which is a charming Lowcountry town. Here you’ll enjoy a horse-drawn tour and see lovely old plantations. A sightseeing tour of Charleston will include Rainbow Row and Waterfront Park. For little more than $1,000, you will hit all the highlights of the Lowcountry, enjoy eight meals, a deluxe motorcoach, local guides, entrance fees, hotel porterage, and six nights in Charleston, Jacksonville, and Savannah. The fee is actually quite reasonable when you consider all that is included. Lodging in these cities cost an average of $220 per night (and even more than this in the high season), so that’s $1,320 alone! But you get lodging, sightseeing, a guide, driver, and air-conditioned motorcoach for just $1100.
