Located just eight miles from Europe across the Strait of Gilbraltor, Morocco is slightly larger than California. Casablanca is Morocco’s largest city and home to the Hassan II Mosque (pictured here), which is the seventh largest mosque in the world. It took 30,000 workers more than five years to build it. Holding up to 80,000 worshippers, it is the most noteable landmark in Casablanca. You’ll also visit Marrakesh (at the base of the Atlas Mountains), Rabat (site of the royal palace), and Fez where you’ll explore medinas, museums, madrassas, and more, including snake charmers and dancers. Interestingly, Fez was the capital of Moroco until 1925. It has two old medina quarters, one of which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The University of Al Quaraouiyine is the oldest university in the world, dating back to 859!
