Five Favorite National Parks

Yellowstone Park Yellowstone National Park

We are fortunate to have so many great parks across America. But which ones are most popular with tourists? Here’s the top five and why:

1. Grand Canyon National Park (Arizona) is the fifteenth oldest park in the U.S. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Highlights: Grand Canyon is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Lots of great hiking trails and vistas. www.grandcanyon.com

2. Great Smoky Mountains National Park (NC & TN) is the most popular park in America. It averages nine million visitors a year. Highlights: Cades Cove, Blue Ridge Mountains, and Smokies.  http://www.mysmokymountainvacation.com/

3. Grand Teton National Park (Wyoming). Highlights: Snowmobiling, birding, fishing, hiking, camping, horseback riding, and much more. http://www.nps.gov/grte/planyourvisit/index.htm

4. Sequoia National Park (CA). Highlights: huge, ancient redwoods that are the largest and oldest on earth (you can drive a car through them they are so big!). http://www.nps.gov/seki/planyourvisit/index.htm

5. Yellowstone National Park (Idado, Montana, Wyoming) is the oldest park in America. It was established in 1872. Highlights: Loaded with wildlife and an incredible ecosystem, plus Yellowstone Falls, not to mention having the majority of the world’s geysers, including Old Faithful. http://www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm
