Egypt is known officially as the Arab Republic of Egypt. Whatever you want to call it, exploring Egypt is almost a surreal experience. There is so much history and culture to absorb. There are ancient historic sites and wonders all over the place! For example, the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities in the country’s capital city of Cairo houses the greatest collection of Egyptian artifacts in the world, boasting more than 120,000 pieces, including King Tut’s burial attire and the Mummy Room!
Fun Facts:
*Ancient Egyptians may have invented bowling! They played a game that seems to be very similar to modern day bowling. Today, however, the country’s most popular sport is football (soccer).
*Don’t bother to pack a raincoat. Egypt only gets about one inch of rain per year!
*Luxor is the world’s largest open air museum.
*The Nile River is the longest river in the world.
*The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World.
