Disney’s newest resort, Aulani Resort, isn’t at Disney! It’s on the Hawaiian island, Oahu. But who needs Disney when you have the Aulani?
What can you expect? The decorating theme is a combination of Disney and Hawaii, so you’re sure to love it! There are 359 deluxe rooms with two queen-sized beds and sixteen suites, plus Disney Club villas. There are two bedrooms and a parlor in the Ahu Ula Suite. The other suites offer one bedroom with a king-sized bed, a sleeper sofa, and a pull-down bunk bed or sleep chair. All rooms have flat-screen TV’s with DVD players, Wi-Fi, mini-refrigerators, coffee/tea makers, hairdryers, make-up mirrors, and robes and slippers.
The twenty-one acre resort has a spa, private beach, snorkeling lagoon filled with 1,500 fish, lazy river, water play area with a thrilling “in-the-dark” water slide (plus two others), and 8,000+ square-foot pool. Not to worry, there are lots of lifeguards on duty.
There are kids’ clubs with activities for teens (including their own spa), adults, ‘tweens, kids, and infants. At Aunty’s Beach House, kids ages 3 – 12, get to do fun things that also teach them about Hawaiian culture. Disney Adventure Guides teach surf lessons, Hawaiian cooking classes, and more. Of course, you’ll find Disney characters all over the place, including the chance to have breakfast with your favorite Disney characters. Also, there’s hula dancing, storytelling at night, movies, a sunset ceremony, scavenger hunts, and more. There are four restaurants on the property, so finding food for even finicky kids won’t be a problem.
A fun and unusual activity is the Quest for Menehune. Menehune are legendary little people. Disney has hidden 300 Menehune throughout the resort. There is a Menehune Adventure Trail that is lots of fun for the whole family. Disney offers a special tool that helps participants during this exciting scavenger hunt!
