Best Types of Cruises
There are several ways to cruise, including ocean cruises aboard large or mega ships, river cruises (small ships exploring inland waterways, such as the Rhine, Mississippi, and Nile), luxury cruises (higher priced to ensure a higher quality of service that includes, butlers, gourmet restaurants with world-class chefs, strict dress codes and more), adventure cruises, yachts/sailing ships, themed cruises (such as an 80’s cruise, Taylor Swift cruise, soap opera, food, hobby, singles and more) and expedition cruises (aboard expedition ships that go to exotic locales, such as Antarctica and the Arctic Circle). The main difference between adventure cruises and expedition cruises is that adventure cruises focus on activities and expedition cruises focus on destinations. Be sure to do some research to determine which is the best fit for you.
Best Cruise Destinations
This depends on what kind of experience you want to have. A Caribbean cruise is going to be quite different than an expedition cruise to the Arctic. That said, the most popular cruise destination is the Caribbean, including the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands (BVI), Cayman Islands, Curacao, Grenada, Dominica, Dominican Republic, St. Kitts, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and St. Lucia. Again, you need to do some research to decide which is the best fit for you. Some have lots to see and do while others are ‘hidden gems’.
By the way, there are lots of other exceptional cruise companies. Some of my favorites that aren’t listed here include Royal Caribbean, Silversea, Seabourn, CroisieEurope and Ritz Carlton Yacht Collection. Once again, it depends on how much money you’re want to spend, what kind of experience you’re looking for, and many other factors such as loyalty programs, current promotions & deals, etc.
