I’ve got some exciting news to share. I’m going to tell you about the world’s biggest cruise ship and share some other travel news.
Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas will soon be sailing the high seas. The ship will be able to accommodate 6,000 passengers and 2,000 crew members. The ship is twice the height of the Washington Monument! Some more fun facts and stats:
*The ship has eighteen decks. 18!
*The ship has a two-level suite for families (pictured here). There is a slide that goes from the upstairs bedrooms right into the living room!
*Guests not staying in this special suite don’t need to feel left out. There is a ten-story Ultimate Abyss, which is the tallest slide at sea and open to all passengers.
*Choose from more than twenty diverse restaurants onboard.
*There is a bar featuring robot bartenders.
*Kids & Teens will love the laser tag venue, arcade, aqua park, rock walls, surf simulator, and ice-skating rink. Adults will love the floating spa, casino, sports bar, and Royal Promenade.
*Entertainment includes Broadway shows, including HAIRSPRAY, and an Aqua Theater featuring amazing acrobatics and stunts.
*The ship has seven “neighborhoods,” including Central Park, which has more than 12,000 trees and plants!
If this sounds too big and like too much, there is another development that may be more to your liking. American Cruise Lines just announced they are launching the world’s smallest cruise ship in Spring 2018. American Constitution will be the complete opposite of the aforementioned ship. The only thing big about is are the staterooms, which are the largest on any cruise ship. This is good news for the 175 passengers it can accommodate. It has six decks and one dining room. It is back to basics with simple pleasures, such as a putting green and onboard historians and naturalists.
More travel news…Southern Living (magazine) just opened its first store, Southern Living Store, featuring travel gear and apparel. Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach now offers America’s only indoor glass-bottom boat tours. The tours are in a tank boasting 8,500 animals. And, Samantha Brown has left the building, the Travel Channel building, that is. During her tenure with the Travel Channel, Samantha visited 260 cities in 62 countries. She is now hosting Places to Love, on PBS, and I’m sure we will love watching her in this new series.
