Best Beach for Disconnecting=Duck, NC. If you’re looking to get away from it all, the Outer Banks is a good place to go. They have very few commercial attractions. Instead, you can take a wild horse safari, go kite-flying, and enjoy the beach. www.outerbanks.org.

Best Beach for Nostalgia=The Wildwoods, NJ. You can still stay in a 1950s-style motel and enjoy old-time amusement park attraction including a full arcade. www.wildwoodsnj.com.

Best Beach for Active Vacationers=Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, AL. Think fishing, exploring nature trails, bird-watching, zip lining, and more. www.gulfshores.com.

Best Beach for Beach Lovers=South Padre Island, TX. Beach lovers will delight in their extensive beach, which is perfect for building sand castles. In fact, they have dubbed themselves the “Sandcastle Capital of the World.” www.sopadre.com.
