Why I Like It: This package includes round-trip airfare from Los Angeles or San Francisco to Cairns, Australia. It also includes airport transfers, all airlines taxes and fuel charges, and five nights in a three-star hotel. For another $180 you can add on a Great Barrier Reef Cruise–and even though that’s optional, I say a visit to reef is a must! This is a great orientation to Australia. Considering how high the cost of airfare is to Australia, this is a great deal. But the good news is there are other options available for same price, such as 9-day New Zealand, 9-day Australia, and 9-day Australia and New Zealand Super Sale. Can you believe it? Australia and New Zealand with air and lodging for less than $1,700! I did a little research using April 13-20 as my dates (mid-week departures) and couldn’t find anything less than $1,500 before taxes and this excludes transfers, fuel surcharges, and lodging. FYI: I found Great Barrier Reef Trips for much less than $180pp on http://www.thingstodoincairns.com/, as well as cheap rates for Kuranda Train & Skyrail, Daintree Rainforest Tour, Skydiving, and Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park.
