Big news! Norwegian Cruise Line recently bought Prestige Cruises International, which is the parent company of upscale cruise lines, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. This $3 billion deal gives Norwegian solid footing in the luxury cruise industry. Albeit as a distant third, Norwegian joins the heavyweights of the cruise industry, Carnival and Royal Caribbean. Carnival owns Carnival, Princess, Holland America, Cunard and Costa. Royal Caribbean owns Celebrity, Azamara, and Royal Caribbean. In addition to this acquisition, Norwegian has five new vessels scheduled to debut between 2015 – 2019, not to mention the two new ships it launched in the last year.
